British Engines Employees Leap into Wellness

At British Engines, we take employee wellbeing seriously with a focus on promoting a healthy work-life balance.

This summer, more than 130 employees worldwide got involved in the group’s annual fitness challenge, Leap into Wellness, collectively achieving 77.5 million steps, burning over 17 million calories and exercising for more than 265,000 minutes.

The fitness challenge aims to boost wellbeing and encourage people to connect with colleagues along the way. Around 74% of participants said that they would not have been as active without the challenge and 69% spoke to another colleague about the challenge.

Monthly competitions added extra motivation where participants won various prizes including an Apple Watch!

Partnering with Yumuuv, employees signed up to various challenges such as completing 8,000 or 10,000 steps daily, or doing 40 or 80 hours of exercise or cycling 600 or 1,000 miles across three months. With something for everyone, the challenge encouraged everyone to take a leap into wellness.

The final leaders in this year’s fitness challenges showcased impressive dedication across all categories. In the Steps Challenge, Nagaraju, a Stores Officer from Michell Bearings India took the top spot with 2,218,360 steps. The Exercise Challenge was led by Andrew a Michell Bearings’ Area Sales Manager, who logged an incredible 16,464 minutes of gym time. Meanwhile, the Cycle Challenge was dominated by Paul, British Engines’ Occupational Health Technician, who cycled an impressive 1,600 miles.

74% of employees said they wouldn’t have been as active without the challenge and 82% said it improved their wellness.
