Ten employees from across the British Engines Group have officially passed their NEBOSH National Certificate following internal training.
The NEBOSH National General Certificate is a globally recognised qualification in occupational health and safety management designed to give delegates a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of safety in the workplace.
In 2023, the British Engines Group became the first employer in the region to be fully accredited to deliver NEBOSH internal training, producing our first fully accredited employees from the scheme.
The qualification will enhance the knowledge and skills of our employees to support them in their role, as well as give them added confidence and competence to work in line with legislation.
As an organisation, the newly qualified employees will also enhance the overall safety culture across the British Engines Group sites, helping to reduce accidents.
To pass the NEBOSH National general Certificate, employees were required to complete two modules:
- Management of Health and Safety: This module covers key health and safety management principles and includes an exam assessing their practical knowledge.
- Risk Assessment: This module focuses on applying risk assessment techniques and completing a practical assessment. The criteria includes understanding legal requirements, hazard identification, risk assessment control measures and effective communication.
Greg Harrison, Central HSE Trainer at British Engines, said: “Our 2023 NEBOSH courses were attended by fantastic students who made a huge effort to take their knowledge of occupational health and safety to the next level.
“The benefits of completing this course were evident from the first session and our employees continue to implement improvements to their businesses based on the knowledge they have gained.”
