British Engines Group company, BEL Engineering, offers sub-contract machining services specialising in large capacity, heavy duty, horizontal machining.
BEL Engineering works primarily in the defence, nuclear, renewables and oil and gas sectors and operates from an advanced manufacturing facility based in Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Visit websiteYou will provide support to ensure efficient flow of data through purchasing using IFS (Enterprise Resource Planning system) in line with business process and procedure. You will interpret the internal contract review document, constructing product structures and interact with the supply chain to identify and request material and sub-contract quotations, raising purchase orders to suit manufacturing requirements.
What you’ll be doing
- Liaise with team members to ensure all documentation is made available and attached in the correct location in IFS.
- Understand and react to Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) by:
- Understand MRP calculation versus shop order demands
- Interact with the supply chain to acquire quotations for both raw material and subcontract services
- Ensure all communications are connected in IFS using existing methods.
- Raise purchase orders as required in line with MRP demands for both material and subcontract ensuring we have a minimum of three quotations to ensure competitiveness.
- Manage purchase order dates ensuring any changes are updated in IFS and communicated with key stakeholders.
- Review purchase requisitions for compliance with contract review.
- Resolve technical queries with suppliers.
- Produce Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reports using system data in preparation for internal & external meetings.
- Follow up with suppliers and sub-contractors ensuring they supply the relevant documentation with all orders.
- Challenge current methods and practices to continuously improve business efficiencies.
- Effectively communicate and implement company policies, procedures, and practices.
- Perform any other duties not listed above as may reasonably be expected.
Who we’re looking for
We ask that you have experience in a similar role, working with a material and sub-contract supply chain. Experience of working with MRP, using an ERP system, within a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
With the ability to ensure the business meets customer requirements/deadlines, candidates must demonstrate their ability to effectively communicate to maintain good relationships with suppliers and colleagues.
The environment is ever changing and being able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative is essential; complemented with excellent planning, organising and time management skills. You will have a high level of computer literacy, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
