As a shift Manager you will provide front line production supervision and leadership, including supervision and control of activities from bearing manufacture to final despatch, and providing leadership to production areas, supporting process improvement and innovation.

 

What you’ll be doing:

 

- Participate in the development, communication and implementation of departmental objectives to underpin operational strategy.

- Line responsibility for component manufacture on shift.

- Co-ordinate and prioritise all shift team members to ensure targets and plans meet the Customer and the Business required delivery schedule.

- Manage shift team performance criteria and measures to meet the business objectives.

- Execution of works orders to meet required delivery schedule, quality and cost. (Measurable)

- Ensure effective and efficient utilisation of resources on shift (Measurable).

- Ensure Quality standards are maintained throughout all shift activities (Measurable).

- Manage day-to-day employee industrial relations issues in areas such as discipline, grievances and health and safety etc.

- Demonstrate a personal commitment towards Safety and Quality

- Ensure adequate training and flexible resources are available to achieve operational targets and objectives.

- Develop team working on shift through education, training, motivation and effective communication.

- Establish and ensure that good housekeeping standards are maintained

- Develop a culture of continuous improvement within the department.

- Complete written monthly reports regarding resource performance.

- Create Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work documents for resources under their control.

- Conduct internal audits to verify that all control measures are being adhered to.

- To carry out any other duties not listed above as may reasonably be expected.

Who we are looking for:

You must have completed a recognised apprenticeship and hold at least a B.Tec or C & G level qualification in mechanical engineering. A solid understanding of machine tools and production processes is necessary, along with experience in managing teams within a manufacturing environment.

Key skills include effective communication, quick decision-making, and strong management capabilities. Familiarity with Health and Safety, COSHH requirements, and computer applications is essential. You must also be willing to work extra hours and hold a valid driving licence.

Hours of work will be 37 per week.
